Bass Canyon

Bass Canyon is back for its (and my) second year at the STUNNING Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington! Jeff Abel aka Excision (aka Daddy 😉) brings some of the best bass music in the world for a one of a kind camping festival experience.

Venue

The Gorge Amphitheatre is one of the most beautiful venues in the world, it’s definitely my favorite! The
Gorge is about 150 miles east of Seattle and offers mind blowing views of the Columbia River especially
at sunset. Bass Canyon features one main stage which is awesome because you don’t have schedule
conflicts. You have the choice to chill and groove on the grass hill or headbang in the pit in front of the
stage.

Line up & Event

As you can see, the lineup is stacked with bass music heavy hitters. This year a “Wakaan Takeover” has been added (time to get trippy) along with Excision’s “Spotlight Artists” which will be great to see some new and possibly unknown artists in the scene. The festival offers early arrival on Thursday 8/22/19 that features an after dark pre-party of a secret B2B2B2B2B, I didn’t make it to last years pre-party so I’m pumped to be attending this year! Bass Canyon last year offered a variety of vendors, food and activities at the Pivot in the campgrounds.

Insight

The event is in late August so it’s still summertime but as a Texas girl, summer in Washington is so pleasant! Last year during Bass Canyon there was a high of 73 degrees and a low of 52 degrees over the event weekend, which to me was perfection! Like I said I’m from Texas so I fly in to the Seattle airport via Southwest Airlines because 2 bags fly free (*WHOOP * WHOOP*) which for me is a necessity. I pack my largest suitcase full of my camping gear, I created a quick reference list of camp gear to bring when flying to a festival;

*please note your luggage has to be under 50lbs. to be free, hence why the list is short

  • Tent/ (extra) stakes/rubber mallet
  • Tarps (tent footprint)
  • Air mattress or pad/ battery powered air pump/ bedding
  • Solar powered collapsible lights/ solar powered battery bank (for charging all your electronics)

My second suitcase is for the good stuff... RAVE WEAR! The days will be warm and the nights will be cool so be sure to bring suitable outfits. Be sure to bring a hoodie or jacket for the evenings just in case, but be sure to check the weather prior to arriving to better prepare yourself. While hanging in the campgrounds during the day I like to be comfortable in shorts and a tank top. I usually have one comfy outfit and my rave outfit for the festival so I pack two outfits per day. Also please note that there is A LOT of walking at the Gorge, especially if you are doing GA Camping, the distance from the campgrounds to the venue is far and hilly so if you’re accident prone I would skip the platforms! I wore platforms last year and didn’t really have a problem but you have to just be mindful of the uneven elevation.

What I want everyone to know about Bass Canyon whether you’re thinking about going or just new to the bass music scene or festival scene is that this festival is truly one of a kind. One of my favorite funny memories from last year was witnessing a group in the pit dancing and headbanging around a (whole) watermelon, I can’t wait to see what this year holds. The people and the vibes were outstanding and just so friendly! So if you are ever hesitant about a bass music festival because maybe you don’t consider yourself a hard core headbanger don’t be about Bass Canyon, these fans will truly make you feel welcomed! I will be representing Rolita Couture at Bass Canyon please come say hi and lets rage together!

Hope to see you soon
